Well what a week @DHFS_Careers #NCW2022 was an amazing showcase where we expanded and nurtured our careers curriculum with a wealth of activities.
So what happened in National Careers Week, or #NCW2022?
Our Careers Convention was a phenomenal success, and is one of the largest, if not the largest careers events in the county. Over fifty exhibitors, and close to 200 guests attended the event, with stalls for students of all years to access all day. These included employers, universities, training providers and colleges, alongside industry specialist representatives. This continued on from our evening event in November 2021. Watch-out for further events in 2022/2023.
We also employed additional careers advisors during the week; completing targeted careers interviews with a range of identified students. Mentor groups were also busy with a range of activities and pledges.
The curriculum was also busy with a range of subject based careers foci. For example, English lessons took place in our careers library, where careers texts were a reading and research focus.
Assemblies also had a careers focus, and Year 11 recently received special assemblies from the NCS (summer schools, and the National Apprenticeship Service.
Our staff were also involved in professional learning and training; extending their careers understanding.
Field Trips were also planned; with the most recent event being the Magna “Get Up to Speed” STEM event. We mustn’t forget National Science week also!
Many thanks to all our staff and students for their engagement in such an important focus!
