Latest Successes – Christmas at DHFS 2024

The month of December was particularly rewarding with numerous activities and events which form part of our school traditions that take place at this time of year. The school has taken part in Christmas jumper day, raising money for charity, and enjoyed festive carols in the dining halls whilst feasting on Christmas dinner.

To experience the atmosphere of this occasion is extremely fulfilling as the school community comes as one to enjoy the togetherness at the school.

In addition to this, we collected donations for Chesterfield Food Bank to ensure we are doing our bit as a community to support those less fortunate than ourselves. It is always incredible how generous our community is and yet again we filled vans up to distribute the goods and produce collected. This year has been particularly exciting as Dronfield Nursery partnered with us to raise even more donations. 119.6kg of food was donated which is equivalent to 1713 meals.

Year 7 engaged with our annual Carol Concert at St John the Baptist’s Church, singing carols in five different languages, as well as hearing readings and sermons.

Sixth Form students had a pyjama day, raising money for charity. They also had lots of fun and showed great competitiveness in the annual sixth form benchball competition.

£1,134.43 was raised over various different events for charity.

A performance of ‘Sickly Sweet’ a comic murder mystery showcased again the many talents our students have.

The final day of the term consisted of our traditional Christmas Quiz. There was also a celebration and challenge assembly and the McGuinness World Record attempts. There was a real buzz around the school with everybody getting involved.
