December was another busy month in school, the school ran various events and activities that celebrate many aspects of school life and enabled the whole school community to come together to demonstrate Success with Care.
Firstly, the school once again took part in the annual Christmas Tree Festival which took place at the Dronfield Parish Church. More than 100 trees featured from a variety of local organisations and businesses.
The annual Christmas Carol Service also took place at Dronfield Parish Church, our Year 7 students sang carols in different languages and members of the school band performed beautifully. This event has been taking place for many years and is a lovely tradition that will continue for many more.
Our Christmas jumper day raised a significant amount of money for charity, which will be added to by our non-uniform day on the last day of term. Once more this year, we have also sponsored a star at Sheffield Children’s Hospital to give back to an important health service that has been there for so many of our children in their hour of need. Also, the response to our annual food bank appeal was phenomenal. You can read below the thank you we received and just how many families in need our school community helped this year. Simply remarkable!
Furthermore, during the month there was the school Christmas light switch-on, a truly tasty Christmas dinner, a festive Christmas card competition, a Sixth Form bench ball competition, House celebrations and the House Quiz.
The traditional school panto is one element that showcased the many positive features of the school. This year we were treated to a splendid rendition of the Robinson Crusoe story as students and staff alike have highlighted the many talents that our school has.
The final day of term saw the amazing Christmas Extravaganza. Each mentor group put together activities to raise money for charity, lots of fun was had in the process!
