At DHFS we take part in Black History Month activities each year. The theme this year is Standing Firm in Power and Pride. This year, the theme highlights the profound contributions made by Black people be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity, and growth. The month was introduced in assemblies attended by all students. Film nights are taking place showing ‘Hidden Figures’ and ‘Soul’. During mentor time, students are learning about and discussing leaders, activists and pioneers. The Learning Resource Centre has a great collection of books if students would like to read further into this topic. Click here for further information regarding Black History Month.
