Latest Success – Great Big Assembly for World Refugee Day

On Tuesday 20th June, we joined 600 schools around the UK in being part of the Great Big Assembly for World Refugee Day. The 20-minute Great Big Live Assembly was hosted by Dr Krish Kandiah OBE from the Sanctuary Foundation, and Daniel Orlova, a 9-year-old refugee from Ukraine now living in the UK. As well as discovering stories and statistics, children in schools around the UK were able to connect with their counterparts in a refugee camp. The assembly was streamed live from a refugee camp in Jordan, and encouraged students to reflect on what they can do to support and welcome refugees that they might meet in their lives.

If students wish to be involved in a future fundraising activity to help support refugees, they should contact Mrs Helliwell on nhelliwell@dhfs.uk
